Sir Elton plans double birthday and Christmas celebrations for son Zachary

Sir Elton John has revealed that instead of celebrating Christmas and the birthday of his son, Zachary, separately this year he will combine the two for a huge party.

The music icon and his partner, David Furnish, became parents to the child on Christmas day last year via a surrogate mother and as his first birthday approaches they want to do something really special to mark the occasion:

"We’re going to roll the two together and bring all the families together and have a wonderful celebration, so I’m so excited about that."

Despite the joint celebration plans, Sir Elton added that he doesn't want to combine gifts and intends to mark every year with a "significant present":

"I want there to be one significant present to mark each birthday in a memorable and meaningful way."
