Sir Elton John reveals dance music ambitions

Sir Elton John has revealed that he’s always wanted to get into dance music after securing a surprising headline slot at this year’s Ibiza 123 Rocktronic Festival.

The 65-year-old, who will join other unlikely White Isle performers Sting and Lenny Kravitz at the fledgling three-day event in July, told the Daily Star that he’s no stranger to the sounds of the clubs:

“I get up in the morning and I play dance music while I am in the shower, so it’s something I have always wanted to get into but if you don’t know what you are doing then you are going to look like an idiot.”

The ‘Rocket Man’ singer, who releases his new album, ‘The Diving Board,’ later this year, will be collaborating with Australian dance act Pnau for the Monday night gig, and hopes to take the results into the charts.

“I told them to take my old stuff and do what they want with it.

“It’s so boring re-releasing your old records to people who already have them. I want to get my songs to new people and its better to do this in a dance way.”
