Sir Elton John advises One Direction not to get too carried away

Sir Elton John has advised One Direction not to get too carried away with the celebrity lifestyle.

The pop legend, who is set to debut at No.1 in the UK album chart tomorrow with Pnau collaboration 'Good Morning To The Night,' told The Sun that he knows from experience about how easy it is to get caught up in the trappings of showbiz:

“If I had to give them advice I would say keep your original friends, keep good counsel with them. Try not to get too carried away with the clubs and all that cr*p — but it’s very difficult, because I did.

“If you enjoy it, you’re young, it’s a different thing, just go for it. Just make sure you don’t get too drunk. What am I saying — I did the f***ing same! Just go for it and see what happens.”

But the 65-year-old, who recently confessed that he wasted a big part of his life on drugs, went on to say that the X-Factor boyband are likely to keep each other grounded:

“The thing is, it was just me. There are five of them together, they have each other to keep strong.

“Niall and Harry have now been in the paper a lot. I feel for them but I’m thrilled for them. They’re also having a great time.

“Enjoy it, for f***’s sake enjoy it. If you don’t enjoy it then there’s no point.”
