Sir Elton John on new album: 'I won't be chasing One Direction up the charts!'

Music icon Sir Elton John has revealed that he's really proud of his forthcoming new album, 'The Diving Board', but doesn't expect it to soar to No.1 upon its release.

Speaking about the new record, the 'Your Song' legend explained that the music that makes up this new body of work is pleasing to his own ears and that was his primary concern:

"On the first three days of recording, in 2012, [Bernie and I] wrote 11 songs. All the tracks on the first session were done in five days. We went back this year and Bernie wrote some additional lyrics. I chose four and they were written and recorded in two days."

“There’s a lot to take in. I’m not going to be chasing One Direction up the charts. I’m just making music I feel good about."

Meanwhile, Sir Elton is set to headline this year's Bestival event, which is due to take place on the Isle of Wight between September 5-8.
