Eminem thanks fans for helping him get "out of that dark place"

Rap sensation Eminem took the stage at a New York concert last night (August 9) and thanked his fans in the audience for helping him to get out of "that dark place".

The superstar battled an addiction to prescription drugs and has since spoken out about the demons he faced, and told his devoted followers that he genuinely appreciates the support they've shown him throughout his career.

39-year-old Marshall Mathers explained he "wouldn't have gotten out of that dark place without y'all" and performed 'Not Afraid', which he "dedicated to anybody tonight who's been through personal struggles".

Back in May, the 'Lose Yourself' hitmaker confirmed that he was working on brand new music via a statement made by his spokesperson, Dennis Dennehy.

Eminem also recently told MTV News that progress is slow, but steady: "I've actually kinda just started. I've been on the move a little bit too, so I've in between things, sneak songs in here and there."
