…J Hus is arguably the UK’s premier rapper. His style, perfected with producer JAE5, blends Afropop, Dancehall, and Grime, and has become one of the definitive sounds of the UK." - Pitchfork

Today, J Hus—the darling of UK Rap and the Afro-fusion pioneer—has finally gifted fans with his highly anticipated sophomore album, Big Conspiracy, out now. With features from Burna Boy and Koffee, Big Conspiracy is executive produced by JAE5, reuniting the electric duo once again to create magic. The combination of JAE5’s classic production style along with J Hus’ trademark rap flair and unmatched lyricism create what is set to undoubtedly be one of the most revered albums of the year.

In usual J Hus fashion, Big Conspiracy boasts an exuberant blend of Dancehall, Afrobeat, Rap, R&B and even Drill. It is an emotional rollercoaster ride, exploring the inner thoughts and feelings of the East Londoner. The record establishes him as a cross-territory leader: A king of the underdogs, who, across fourteen songs, dispenses with a reflective, lyrically sharp mission brief on himself, his state of mind and his navigational map for prevailing in a game of rigged odds.

The album brings together some of the most significant names in global music with masterful, career-best production from close collaborators JAE5, Levi Lennox, and iO, plus with the addition of TobiShyBoy, Nana Rogues, Skribz Riley and more.

The first two singles from the album, “Must Be” (his first Top 5 U.K. hit) and street track “No Denying” have both quickly become fan favorites and served as tasters for what was to follow. ‘Big Conspiracy’ picks up where 2017’s Common Sense (the Mercury, BRIT, and BET Award nominated debut album) left off. The classic, cheeky and playful persona of the Hussla returns fusing a plethora of African tones and Jamaican patterns across the album. Vibrant tracks such as “Cucumber” and the Burna Boy-assisted, Jae5, Nana Rogues and Skribz Riley-produced track “Play Play” are heat wave anthems set to take over every single BBQ and party this summer, with Hus reminiscing on old crushes and current link-ups and slick-talking like only he can.

With regard to guest features, joining Burna Boy, Jamaica’s current queen Koffee holds the verses of “Repeat” aloft. Newcomer Iceé tgm leads the album, providing the chorus and backing vocals on the album’s first two tracks.

“Reckless” is arguably the album’s most anticipated moment – having been teased to fans on socials for just over a year now. On the track, Hus confidently takes on the haters and showcases his supreme lyrical ability. Notably, on Big Conspiracy, we see a more aware and conscious J Hus. After a well-documented fall from grace that included a stint in prison in early 2019, Hus studied up and grew up even more. As he elaborated to Wonderland in their 2019 cover story, "you’re gonna hear a more grown up Hus” on Big Conspiracy. “You’re gonna hear music with more meaning.”

The track “Love Peace & Prosperity” hints at Hus’ current world view. Closing track “Deeper Than Rap”, meanwhile, is an analysis of his life up to this point. A lyrical treatise on what he stands for, what he represents, it’s Hus at his most candid and politically poignant. It is to this album what “Spirit” was to the last and the end credits to the thirteen songs that have come before.

Common Sense was Hus’ introduction, defining a sound – Big Conspiracy defines the mission. After securing the charts around the globe, the radio and the critics, it is the document of a singular artist expressing multitudes. With a greater emphasis on the word than ever before, this is a record where the music and the message do all of the talking. The Fisherman might be nowhere to be seen, but he’s back, hustling for life’s top spot.

PRAISE FOR 2017’S COMMON SENSE

“The most promising musical exchanges of the last couple of years have been among Africa, Europe and North America, and no album made that clearer than [Common Sense].” - The New York Times, Best albums of 2017

“Every few years, the exuberance of an artist just barely arriving at their adult years brightens the rap realm....The 21-year-old artist did us all a favor by making an album that joined much of the most exciting music coming out of the African diaspora—dancehall, afrobeats, hip-hop, and grime—in a way so fluid that it feels like he needs a new genre exclusively credited to him.” - Vice/Noisey, Best albums of 2017

“As the lead single of his Mercury Prize-nominated debut album Common Sense, [“Did You See”] soundtracked his biggest moment yet, and despite its understated energy, will forever sound triumphant.” - The FADER, 101 Best songs of 2017

“...so consistently excellent that it’s hard to pick a best song.“ - Pigeons and Planes, Best albums of 2017

“The album showed us a more thoughtful side to the rapper and took him, without having to compromise, into the mainstream arena. ” - Complex, Best albums of 2017

“...the year’s best British debut.” - Highsnobiety, Best albums of 2017
