Example says he was a "b*stard" before entering therapy

Example has revealed that he went to therapy because his success in the music industry "went to his head".

Speaking in a frank interview with The Sun, the British maestro said that he suffered from the effects of the industry so much that he took up therapy in an effort to cleanse his mind.

He said that he was a "b*stard" in a previous relationship and when that partnership ended, he sought psychological advice to rediscover the real Example. He said:

"I won't go into details, out of respect for my old girlfriend, but you know what happens to people in the music industry. I was a b*stard. It all went to my head. But I came out of that relationship knowing that wasn't the real me - and went to therapy. It wasn't Priory-style stuff. Basically, my mum and dad had moved to Australia, so the closest people to me, who you trust for sound advice, were abroad. I had a period where I went a bit wild because I was single."

Example - real name Elliot Gleave - continued: "The therapy thing was so good because I could speak to someone who wasn't going to lick my ar*e because I was famous. Your bandmates tell you what you want to hear because you are the boss. My manager will give me advice but wants to keep me happy. But I came out of therapy thinking, 'Elliot, you were an absolute s**t and now I feel like the old Elliot again'. That's why I have called the new album 'The Evolution Of Man'. It sounds really w*nky but that's how it is."
