PATENT PENDING release "Brighter" album Oct 7th.Pop-punks support BOWLING FOR SOUP on UK tour throughout October.Band: New York's Patent Pending have announced full details of their new studio album. "Brighter", the follow-up to their break-through release "Second Family", will be released on October 7th to coincide with their forthcoming tour with Texan rockers Bowling For Soup. The album's first single, "Let Go", will be released the same month. The album signals a progression in song-writing for the Billboard Award-winning five-piece from Long Island. Recorded at Fantasyland Studios in Nashville with producer Jordan M. Schmidt (All Time Low, Motion City Soundtrack) and mixed by the prolific Tom Lord-Alge (Green Day, 30 Seconds To Mars, Coldplay), the album opens gently with the acapella intro "There Was A Time" before erupting into the stomping, high-energy call-to-arms of "Shut It Down". Lead single "Let Go", co-written by vocalist Joe Ragosta and Jordan Schmidt, is classic Patent Pending with an unrelenting bounce and smart, tongue-in cheek lyrics. Throughout the album the band experiment with elements of various musical genres, stepping outside of the traditional pop-punk parameters. The military marching band beat of the title track and the memorable swaggering chorus of "Falling Out Of Love" cross into radio-friendly mainstream pop while "Damn!" sways with 1960s harmonies and features a live horn and string section in a nod to the big-production sound of classic Motown. TRACK-LISTING Fans of the band will be pleased to hear that, while "Brighter" has a more accomplished and mature feel than previous releases, the band haven't abandoned their trademark wit. Packed full of songs that will translate perfectly into Patent Pending's interactive, sing-along live performances, the album illustrates just how far they have come since the release of their previous album "Second Family". Tours across the US and Europe have earned them universally glowing reviews and introduced them to a broad cross-section of rock fans, not least at their debut Download Festival appearance earlier this year. The band attracted one of the biggest crowds the festival's Pepsi Max stage hosted all weekend, with the audience overflowing outside of the confines of the stage's tent. The band's mission during recording was to capture the excitement and energy of these live performances: "That is who we are and that is where we have always done our best. We felt like this album will truly help non-believers understand who we are as a band and as a family" says vocalist Joe Ragosta. "Vivacious pop-punk...It's impossible to stand and watch them without grinning." "A tremendous joy to watch and listen to."
Starting October 10th, Patent Pending will be joining Bowling For Soup's final UK tour. the choice to offer the sole support slot to the band was an easy one says BFS frontman Jaret Reddick: "Patent Pending were an obvious choice. we actually refer to them as our little brothers because they are so much like we were years ago. we just love them as a band and as people. I can't wait to see them in front of these crowds!" Dates are: OCT The album's cover art reflects hope in the future and trust in the positive, something that Patent Pending have championed throughout their 12 year career. This collection of accomplished pop-rock songs shows a band moving forward with a self-belief and confidence that guarantees them an even "Brighter" future. The album "Brighter" is out Oct 7th on Second Family Records. The first single "Let Go" is scheduled for release the same month.
