ANTHONY TOUMA DROPS NEW SINGLE “WALK AWAY” WITH UNIVERSAL MUSIC MENA

The Rising Pop Singer and Songwriter Anthony Touma Drops New Single “Walk Away”

“Walk Away” serves as a powerful calling card for the 25-year-old singer, songwriter, and musician. His signature sound is driven by a soulful voice and touching lyrics.  Touma’s musical genre of choice is best described as Pop with a touch of RnB, as he is influenced by Pop King Michael Jackson and Soul sensation Stevie Wonder, as well as Justin Timberlake, Bruno Mars and Jason Mraz.

The track was produced by two young talented Lebanese producers, Sleiman Damien and Tarek Majdalani, in their studios with all the vocals recorded at Touma’s little home studio. It all started with a melody, an idea for the lyrics and a bass line.

Touma says of his sources of inspiration “This track is one of the tracks that speaks to me most, it tells my story and it just makes me feel good when I listen to it. On my journey to where I am today, I had a lot of people not believing in me. As time went by and as I moved forward and improved, these same people started noticing my success and came back to me acting friendly, supportive and showing "Fake love" as Drake would say. They inspired me to write this song. I felt a lot of people would relate, it also reminded me of relationships where your ex who left you suddenly gains interest again because you've "gotten prettier" or more successful etc.”

“My favorite fun fact about this track is that I’m the one singing all the African choir parts. Initially, I was supposed to compose the choir parts and record them as a demo that we would send to an actual African Choir, when I sent them to the producers they could hardly believe that I recorded these parts myself. We then decided that I would be the one to sing them, and I spent a very fun night, locked up in my home studio all alone, dancing and singing my lungs out till 4am while picturing myself in Africa,” he added.

In 2011, Touma produced two original songs that were topping local stations playlists. “Morning Walk” ranked fourth on NRJ Lebanon’s charts, while “Just To See You Smile” remained within the NRJ top 20 for 8 consecutive weeks. The success of his singles earned him a slot in the NRJ Music Tour 2012, opening the show for headliner Hip Hop artist Sean Kingston.

Touma now splits his time between Lebanon and Dubai where in between playing shows he has been working to wrap up his the official music video for “Walk Away” and his upcoming music. As he gears up to assemble his debut album, Touma is also eager to tour and spread his music across all continents to connect with more audiences and music lovers.

Anthony Touma - Bio
Semi-Finalist of The Voice France- Season 2, Winner of Dancing with the Stars Middle East- Season 3, and lead actor in the Lebanese film “And Action”, Anthony Touma has proven himself to be a triple threat by perfecting the qualities of a complete artist.

Born along the western edge of Paris’ 16th arrondissement in 1992, Anthony’s childhood was scattered between France, Jordan, Dubai and Lebanon, finally settling in the latter. Anthony graduated from the American University of Beirut in 2015 with a degree in Business Administration, and then went on to earn a diploma from Point Blank Music School UK in songwriting, music business and singing.

Anthony first took the stage at the ripe age of 7, performing in front of his schoolmates and marking the beginning of his singing career. In the years that followed, he continued his musical formation by learning the piano and working on his vocal technique. He began performing in weddings, corporate and private events when he was 16, as well as working part-time at a recording studio as piano player and composer. In parallel, he became the lead singer of rock band “Homemade” formed with his high school friends, writing and composing original songs. Homemade reached the semi-finals in the 2011 edition of the Lebanese competition “Battle of the Bands”.

After establishing himself in his native country, Anthony decided to take his career to another level by auditioning for The Voice France. He made it to the semi-finals with the support of a wide international audience as well as viewers from his native land. This opportunity allowed him to tour France’s most prestigious stages with “The Voice-2” finalists, performing 30 concerts all over the country and ending the series of shows in Lebanon. He then put on a solo concert in Beirut Souks that same year with 2500 attendees.

Following a vast array of positive critical acclaim, Anthony was signed by Polydor-France, a Label of Universal Music group. He released his first album in French titled “Maintenant C’est L’heure”, which captured the attention of Enrique Iglesias’ team. Anthony collaborated with the Latin Legend on his track “Let Me Be Your Lover”, writing and singing the French lyrics of the song, and performing it live with Iglesias at his Bercy concert.

The Lebanese native came back to Lebanon following his success in France to participate in Middle East’s “Dancing with the Stars”, and take home the win for the show’s third season. That same year, Anthony produced his own Christmas Concert, hosting a full house.

Once he had made significant strides in music and won a dance competition, he moved to the world of acting. Anthony landed the lead role in Lebanese Movie “And Action”, taking intensive active workshops in preparation for the movie. He also composed, arranged and wrote three songs for the film including its soundtrack.

The Lebanese singer was recently signed to Universal Music MENA, and is currently working on his upcoming English Album.
