The Hallows talk about their latest single 'Angel' and the forthcoming debut album!

How would you describe your music in three words?

Catchy, Lush & Powerful.

Where did the influence/inspiration for your latest single ‘Angel’ come from?
Angel was one of the first songs that we wrote for this album. Sarah’s lyrics are dark and loaded with imagery on this track, it is in essence about being torn between what you want to do and what you have to do - it’s a critique on servitude…with a fat and dirty bass riff that will melt your face.

Where did the idea for the music video come from?
We wanted to have a visually striking video for this song and we were surprised that no one had used the concept of having all their instruments set alight whilst fire performers duel to the death. We were inspired by the recent Mad Max film in terms of costuming and makeup and really wanted to capture some of the style and intensity in our own video. We are also very lucky to have friends who are very talented fire performers and also our ever present director, Luke Robinson and his creative partner Becky Handley. Together they have made our videos not just possible but better than we could have ever imagined - we owe them a great deal!

What artists do you admire the most?
We all have a lot of love for MUSE, QOTSA, Alter Bridge, Biffy Clyro, Imagine Dragons, Coldplay, Royal Blood, Tori Amos and Imogen Heap.

How was it recording the album?
It was a fantastic adventure, a lot of fun and a lot of work! - we were very fortunate to record at Riverside Studios with our producer Seb Pecchia. Seb was instrumental in helping us to form our sound and also refine our song arrangements during the sessions. The process was very organic and some of the songs evolved in ways that we did not anticipate prior to starting recording. We are all very happy with the final result and are already gearing up for recording the second album.

Are there any plans to tour coming up, and whereabouts would you like perform?
We will be touring in July and August and are excited to be playing in some new cities around the UK. We would love to perform in Europe and the States and will be actively pursuing festivals and overseas gigs next year - it’s all very exciting and we feel very fortunate to be doing what we do!

What is your dream collaboration?
We would collectively say that MUSE are our dream collaboration - we are all big fans of their music and have a lot of respect for their live performances, we would love to share a stage with them!

What albums are you listening to at the moment, and are you attending any festivals this summer?
We have all been listening to the new Royal Blood record and loving it - they write great songs and they have a real talent for putting together great hooks and heavy riffs - they deserve all the success they have achieved!

Is there anything else you would like to tell us about yourselves, The Hallows?
Yes, we are still looking for someone to build us a Mecha Godzilla (see previous interviews for the back story on this one…)
