PRESS RELEASE: November 2017

Ray J is back!

Single ‘Feeling Like Love’ leads the way for a star-packed album on his new label, RU Listening.

Maximum media attention expected following Kanye West’s Ray J namecheck on the track ‘Highlights’ from his latest album Life of Pablo (get over it, man!)

R’n’b sensation Ray J is back with a brand new single, record deal and an album on the horizon in the year following his Best Album Grammy for Drake’s sampling of his ‘One Wish’ all the way through the track Redemption. Not that Ray J has ever been away, not with the level of media attention he has always attracted.

The new record deal is with hot new label on the block RU Listening and an album, Raydemption, featuring the likes of Chris Brown, Snoop Dogg and Justin Bieber, is in the works, but it all kicks off with the project’s debut single, ‘Feeling Like Love’, a bang-up-to-date feel-good track produced by Fallen Angel and featuring respected rap artist Kid Ink.

And you know that when Ray J has his name attached to anything, press attention is never far behind, especially taking into account a past peppered with global headline news. Like a certain controversial, ahem, intimate video featuring one Kim Kardashian (whatever happened to her when the shockwaves from that particular episode died down?), the connection that seems to hold Kanye West’s attention

Then there was the close friendship with Whitney Houston and the various TV programmes: not only his own massive reality show Love & Hip Hop: Hollywood, which he and partner Princess star in, but the UK’s Celebrity Big Brother, which he had to leave early because of illness.

And, of course, the superstar family members like Snoop Dogg and Brandy (you remember him starring alongside Brandy in her globally syndicated TV smash, Moesha, right?) and close friends like Chris Jenner, who make sure he’s never that far from a TMZ news story.

But Ray J is in a very different place in his life right now with a new baby due and a whole new outlook on life. It’s given his music - especially this single! – an up-beat, glad-to-be-alive vibe that’s bound to go down well with fans.

As for that album, it’s coming in visual album format – not dissimilar to Beyoncé’s Lemonade – basically a 35-minute mini-movie that’s already exciting Grammy’s buzz.

With a character as charismatic and in-demand as Ray J, it’s sometimes all too easy to overlook the music. Except when the music is this good, that is.

Ray J releases his single ‘Feeling Like Love’ on January 12th on RU Listening via Universal/Priority Records.
