Interview With Beth Macari

Interview with Beth Macari

Hi Beth, how’s your week been so far?

Its has been great thank you, I have been in the studio this week recording some new music so it has been lush! I have not long been back from Manchester working with the Manchester Camerata, it was an amazing experience working with a live 23 piece orchestra!

Your new single ‘Clone’ is full of summer vibes and a real dance classic, what was the inspiration behind the production of the song?

I wrote the song off the back of the back of an experience I had, which I know lots of other people would have had. Have you ever seen a picture of your exes new partner and thought they looked shockingly like you? Or all of your friends told you that they did? Clone is a funny take on that experience that so many people can relate to.

‘Clone’ is about finding power after a break up, did you draw inspiration from your own life and what else inspired the song?

Breaking up often feels like the end of the world, but it can be an empowering moment of change in peoples lives.

I want to be writing music that is more on the empowering side of things as opposed to concentrating on the negatives.

What advice would you give to someone going through a break up at the moment?

Find your new happy, its hard to focus on the positives but if you do, you can lift yourself out of any situation.

How did you originally get into music and where did your passion for music ignite from?

I've always been a singer and music lover. My mum has videos of me singing and dancing around the living room to Shania Twain at 5 years old.

You’ve toured as a support act for some pretty incredible artists (Rae Morris and Maverick Sabre) what did you learn/gain from this?

I love working with all sorts of different musicians, perfuming to new people. Any creative situation can be a moment of inspiration for my own music.

You worked on ‘Bring the Noise’ with some pretty big names, do you have any fond memories or anecdotes from this time you’d like to share?

My first encounter with Nicole Scherzinger, I had to sing a pussycat dolls song, and she told me ‘Gurl, your voice came from baby jesus!’

I also got to sing happy birthday to Tinie Tempah.

You’re also really into acting, playing roles in short films and such like. How did you get into acting?

I sort of fell into it. Singing is my first love but I’m really interested in trying lots of different things.

And finally, what are your recommendations for music, film, and TV shows at the moment?

I'm really into Anne-Marie, she came on the Sky one show and was lovely, and her music since then has just got bigger and better, i’m definitely a fan girl.

I am currently watching an American TV series called ‘The Mentalist', I actually watched it a couple years back but I love it so have re started it.

All the best Beth, thanks so much!
