Press Release: April

Russian icon GG is back with another attention-grabbing single guaranteed to leave you wanting more, and more, and more….

“Fun, flamboyant, and unconventional…We cannot wait to see what she has planned for her future releases” – Spindle Magazine

“A technicolour slice of chilled electronica…GG’s first step out as a solo artist is a bold and
brilliant introduction” – Wonderland Magazine

Riding on the success of her previous EP ‘Four Days’, GG is back and even more arthouse than before – if that is possible. June sees the release of ‘Freezing’, a hypnotic pop fusion track featuring GG’s hauntingly beautiful vocals.

The new track comes alongside a music video that is just classically GG. She stands alone in a snowy forest moving around the attenuated shapes of the trees, a theme that is interrupted with shots of bear traps, security camera’s attached to trees, and scenes where GG looks truly chilling (no pun intended). It has a truly cinematic quality, and is everything that you could want from this Russian enigma.

‘Freezing’ begins with a strong drum beat and eerie synths, instrumentation that makes for an intro that is equal parts un-nerving and intriguing. GG’s vocals then join the mix and they are as ethereally delicate as they are commanding.

The song builds up until it reaches its climax. ‘I’ve learned to stay cool // now it’s getting freezing’, sings GG and the conviction and power in her voice makes her impossible to disbelieve.

Hailing from the streets of Saratov in Russia, GG’s story is as un-conventional as her music. She picked up the Cello at the age of eight as her flat was too small for a piano, a flat that she would soon be forced to flee due to the death of her Father at the hands of a Russian Mob.

Her escape led to a stay in an abandoned house where she was kept alive by the compassion and care of a stranger. GG finally managed to get to Moscow where she continued her study of music at the Conservatoire as well as enrolling on a screenwriting course at Film School. It was at this institution that her debut band ‘Dry’ was formed, a decision that ultimately ignited her passion for alternative pop music.

So what can we expect from the Artist who keeps on surprising with her Arthouse cinematography and delightfully eccentric pop fusion tracks? Well, with ‘Freezing’ being released on June 1st, and a run of festival appearances booked for this summer, the one thing we can guarantee is that this Russian powerhouse will not disappoint.
