Bright new young talent Katie Kittermaster balances A Level studies with some of the most astute and honest lyrics in the singer-songwriter world at the moment. Stay tuned for her UK and Europe tour with Lucy Spraggan and her debut EP, titled ‘Coming Home at Dawn’.

A Levels are hard. The most demanding point of a teenager’s time studying so far, they are often times when students feel overwhelmed and struggle to balance their time. Knowing this makes Katie Kittermaster’s success all the more impressive, since she has balanced her school work with a blossoming music career as well.

Her EP Coming Home at Dawn will be released in November this year, following a jam-packed summer of festivals (including El Dorado and Chris Evan’s popular CarFest). The EP opens with ‘Sunday Afternoon’, Kittermaster’s debut single which serves as an ode to the comfortable, healthy relationship we all dream of, where “being in each other’s company is enough,” (Kittermaster on her songwriting themes). Kittermaster’s beautifully understated voice is our guide throughout this 5-track EP of sweet and heartfelt love songs, one of which was impressively written at age 15. “Music is a really powerful outlet for my own emotions,” says the 19-year old singer and songwriter, whose song ‘T-Shirt’ won both the Commonwealth Song of the Year and the UK Songwriting Contest this year, and got Kittermaster to the final of the Lyricist of the Year awards as well.

It’s not just prestigious awards which have picked up on this remarkable young talent. Katie Kittermaster is also turning the heads of Roland Keyboards and Taylor Guitars, winning sponsorship deals from both as a result of her authentic songwriting style and confidence beyond her years on the stage. She has been booked to open for household names such as Jools Holland and Marc Almond, following on from her triumphant support slot for none other than Olly Murs, Louisa Johnson and dance group Diversity at the Big Day Out in summer 2017.

“It’s like kaleidoscopes, kaleidoscopes of memories / come running back, running back to me / but he never does [...] and I know that now” sings Kittermaster, with a sense of maturity and acceptance that I think we can all agree we wish we had had at the tender age of 15. The EP is full of honest observations written from the point of view of someone navigating the world of romance for the first time and promises to find many fans in young listeners looking for someone to put these difficult emotions into words.

Another thing setting Kittermaster apart from the rest of her age group is that she is spared the uncertainty which comes after A Levels. Katie Kittermaser is also currently the only support for songstress Lucy Spraggan on her 37-date tour of the UK and Europe. With astute and honest lyrics and a voice as beautiful as Katie has, it’s a guarantee that this tour will gain her well-deserved fans all over the place, just in time for the release of her wonderfully cosy EP, Coming Home at Dawn.
