TIME IS UP joins the long and essential tradition of protest songs, as President Street has crafted a defiant and hopeful tune. Struck by the images of so many people of all colours, ages, gender, sexuality and backgrounds coming together to unite around making the changes that the planet really needs right now, it's a song that perfectly blends strength mixed with a celebration of humanity. Alongside this single release, President Street have been announced as the support act for Roachford’s UK tour, during May and June of 2021.

Speaking of the song, President Street said that “We want it to be defiant but also have a sense of joy and hope about it.” This is something reflected in the celebratory carnival-esque nature of the song’s production, Ruby’s uplifting vocal line, and the defiance found in the lyrics themselves.

“Watching the news we were struck by the fact that the huge crowds were a real diversity of people all coming together peacefully and so we wanted it to almost feel like a celebration of people of all colours, age, races, religions and gender coming together to say that we’ve all had enough, and the time for change is now.”

In addition to this celebratory track, the Aussie favourites have announced that they are set to tour the UK in support of Roachford, the band led by singer Andrew Roachford. The rock and soul artist has been a staple of the radio airwaves since the 80s, and has remained as a constant reminder of the kind of talent the UK can produce. Having collaborated with everyone from The Clash to Beverley Knight, Roachford is now a master of his trade, and promises to take you on a wild and unexpected journey. “I like to improvise, so no two shows are ever the same,” he says. Add to this the magic and attitude of President Street and you have yourself what promises to be a spectacular show.

President Street did not let the pandemic slow their progress. Filming the music video for previous single ‘Something to Believe’ on an iPhone, the pair released the R’n’B-inspired tune to resoundingly positive reviews. Now, with TIME IS UP, President Street are set to put all their defiance and determination to practice with the common goal of racial equality firmly in mind.

TIME IS UP is released on the 22nd January 2021. President Street will go on tour with Roachford in May/June 2021.
