Drumming and vocal prodigy DYNAMYTE releases 'Show Me You'

It probably won’t surprise you to know that this drumming prodigy, neo soul vocalist Boston-bred beauty also has a black belt in Tae Kwon Do. It’s this sense of unapologetic attack and unbridled energy which earned her the name DYNAMYTE the first time she ever stepped into a recording studio.

With a powerful vocal and take-no-prisoners attitude, new single ‘Show Me You’ craves authenticity, and is out now.

A critical look at the ways in which social media can influence the younger generations to present themselves as someone they aren’t, ‘Show Me You’s sassy and intimate authenticity immediately draws you into the personality that is Dynamyte. Her degree in social psychology at Brown University left Dynamyte fascinated by the ways in which people work, and serves as the catalyst for much of her songwriting - ‘Show Me You’ included.

“I use my analyses to make sense of my experiences when I’m writing, while also targeting what kind of content I feel the world needs.” she says, “I always want to write songs that will impact people.”

It’s unsurprising that Dynamyte counts Amy Winehouse and Janis Joplin amongst her vocalist inspirations - that raspy low tone permeates the entire record and production, leaving her unmistakable voice in the centre of the mix. Her combination of soulful Amy Winehouse-influenced vocals and pointed, fearlessly honest Lily Allen-esque songwriting style is creating an edgy, seductive niche all its own.
Ironically, even though she wrote the slyly seductive ‘Show Me You’ as an incisive takedown of the way the social media and influencer culture can inspire young people to live a lie as their online personas, her fan base on Instagram (over 42,000 followers) and TikTok (58.7K followers, 1.2M likes) has expanded exponentially this year.

‘Show Me You’ has a video already - and it already has half a million views, and the song itself has half a million Spotify streams. It’s a testament to how much Dynamyte’s fans are able to relate to her - indeed, the majority of her Tik Tok videos are tutorials; how to sing, how to improve your drumming, learn ukulele in one minute. The idea that Dynamyte wants to share her skills and successes with as many people as possible pays off - everyone who listens to ‘Show Me You’ takes something away with them. A pledge to be more authentic, more unapologetic, more badass and more outspoken, like Dynamyte is herself.

‘Show Me You’ is out now.
