“As much as she enjoys the energy that makes you jump out of your seat, Carly combines a catchy beat with relatable lyrics. Her honest songwriting makes her stand out in the dance music scene.” - Fame Magazine

“Carly makes sure to tick off all boxes for a pop smash, and it does.”
- CelebMix

"Carly’s ability to harness her emotions and express them into powerful and alluring tracks, she creates something so personal; yet, she does it in a way that becomes something so familiar and touching to anyone listening." - Essentially Pop

A love letter transforms into this year’s new Summer Bop, a single that not only tells a story so enticing that you won’t be able to stop listening but also pulls you up onto the dance-floor ready to celebrate the summer with a cocktail in hand. For her second release, London-based Geordie, Carly Burns turns up the heat yet again, getting us all summer-ready with her newest single, ‘Sweetheart’, out on the 18th of August.

Once again, Carly has whipped us up an alluring concoction, pouring in her unique pop tone, a couple of shots of sparkling instrumentation, all mixed in with huge, powerful big notes to finish the track! The song is a gorgeous mixture of absolute pop, with of course, a little dash of dance, because it wouldn’t be Carly without it! As we dive into this single, we find out that its inspiration comes from an unbreakable force. Fused with the stylistic direction of the song, ‘Sweetheart’ is Y2K’s answer to the romantic fairytale, recast with Carly and her childhood sweetheart. “We’ve been through so much together, but he really is my soulmate and every word in this song is true!”

Talking about this latest release, Carly says that, “A lot of my songs would come from a dark place and I would turn that into a banger. Of course, I love that, but what’s so special about this song is that it really has just been nothing but absolute joy from the get go, from writing it, recording, getting produced... it’s just been a pleasure and I’m so excited to share it with everyone.”

“What’s even more exciting about this track is the music video we’re shooting. We’re going absolute Y2K vibes! Not only because the ‘00s fashion is iconic, but because me and my boyfriend first got together in 2008 so it all just seemed right! It’s going to be so much fun, I can’t wait! I feel like with a video this time round not only can I show my singing but I can show how I perform as an artist. Coming from a musical theatre background, I have always acted and danced so it’s going to be fun to be able to showcase this as well!”

Carly has no shame in being a proud Geordie girl! She showed this back in December 2021 on ITV’s Walk The Line, singing her own song in not just her Geordie accent but using Geordie dialect, praised by Gary Barlow for doing so! She has decided to show off glimmers of that accent in this new single, just like Geordie singer Sam Fender. With ‘Sweetheart’, Carly is not only sharing her heart with her listeners, but she is giving them a taste of her background and personality.

Starting her career on the stage, Carly has performed in lead roles in London and travelled the world in renowned productions, such as playing the Acid Queen in The Who's Tommy, alongside X Factor Rockstar Giovanni Spano. Carly is currently touring the UK, starring in producer Bill Kenwright’s award-winning hit musical Blood Brothers, playing the supporting lead role of Linda, alongside X Factor’s Niki Evans. Touring across the country as an actor, Carly still creates the time to allow her music to blossom, evidently proved in her latest release.
