As his first release of the year, following on from his well-praised album ‘Isolation’, singer-songwriter Jonny Ong reveals his newest single to the world, ‘Don’t Wake Me From This Dream’. Scheduled for release on the 30th of September, ‘Don’t Wake Me From This Dream’ focuses itself on an intoxicating romance.

In his latest release, Jonny meanders his way through classical elements and motifs from bands like The Beatles and The Rolling Stones, creating an almost Last Shadow Puppets-style modern-day hit. With its refreshing take on vintage indie rock, Jonny perfectly creates an addicting love song. With his signature nostalgic sound, Jonny brings together smooth lyrical melodies, smoky jazz-basement rhythms and express guitar hooks.

Speaking ahead of its release, Jonny explained: “For this record, I wanted to take a break from the handpan and get back to my roots. I grew up listening to rock bands from the ‘60s and ‘70s and wanted to make a record inspired by that sound.”

Jonny Ong has always been inspired by the wave of ‘60s rock bands (The Beatles, Cream), Frank Sinatra and the sounds of ‘40s jazz hits (Miles Davis, Chet Baker). These influences that have followed him through life really begin to shine through in his own work.

Produced by Scott Knapper, who has credits on records by an eclectic mix of artists, including Deftones, Kano, Yellow Days and The Overtones, ‘Don’t Wake Me From This Dream’ was also co-produced by Jonny and mastered at the legendary Abbey Road Studios.
