The award winners were announced from an incredibly talented pool of 80 nominees across 30 categories in a multitude of genres. SB19 and ARASHI stood out at the end of the evening claiming three Pinnacle Awards apiece. SB19, the five-member Filipino idol group widely heralded as the Kings of P-Pop and who recently capped off a successful international tour, won the Pinnacle Award in the prestigious Song of the Year category for the dance-infused smash “WYAT (Where You At)” (co-produced by SB19 member Pablo and his brother Joshua Daniel Nase. SB19 also earned honors as Best World Group and won in the Best Collaboration Record category for their up-tempo ballad hit with Korean producer Ohwon Lee, “Love Yours”. Japanese group ARASHI garnered a big evening as well as the J-Pop luminaries captured three Pinnacle Awards. The legendary group whose immense catalog spans 20-plus years and 17 studio albums, received awards for Best Group and World Song of the Year for the upbeat pop hit, “Turning Up”. ARASHI also won the Best Ballad category for “Whenever You Call”, written by hit making recording artist Bruno Mars. Indonesian recording artist Agnez Mo, Japan idol group King & Prince and Victor Daze, an independent R&B artist from the New York area, had a spectacular showing as well winning two Pinnacle Awards each, respectively. Agnez Mo is distinguished as the most awarded artist in Indonesian music history, possessing 30 years in the industry, releasing her first album at the remarkable age of 6. Agnez adds to her amazing list of accolades by garnering two Pinnacle Awards for Best Solo Artist and R&B Song of the Year with the soulful ballad “Patience”. King & Prince won the Best World Album category for their 11-track effort titled Made In which features such standout tracks as “Ichiban”, “Dream In”, “RING DING DONG” and “Last Train”. The quintet also earned honors for The Most Requested Song for the fast-paced dance track “Ichiban”. The Pinnacle Award in this category is the one most influenced by the fans as it is based on the amount of requests submitted and social media activity surrounding a particular song. Independent R&B artist Victor Daze continues his surge of momentum from a string of flourishing single releases and live performances in the New York Tri-State area as he won Two Pinnacle Awards for Best Indie Artist and Indie R&B Song of the Year for the funky R&B smash ” Rock Ya Body”. “Rock Ya Body” has topped the Platinum Vibes radio Indie Charts for several weeks consecutively and singles such as “Read Me’ and “They Can’t Touch You” receive frequent airplay on the platform. In other standout categories such as Album of the Year, Filipino-Australian recording artist James Reid won the Pinnacle Award for his sensational R&B/pop album lovescene on the Careless Music label which features such captivating songs as “Lie to Me”, “Chasin”, “Cali Lovin” and “Spotlight” to name a few. The Best New Artist category was captured by rapidly emerging Japanese dance and vocal group Psychic Fever, a 7-member group under LDH Japan management and LDH Records. Psychic Fever has dropped a number of successful singles in their debut year such as “Choose One’, Hotline” and “Best for You”. What’s Next for the WPVR Pinnacle Awards?!? WPVR Director Kevin James shared that, “we are looking forward to sharing photos on social media in the next coming weeks of the awards before they are distributed to the well-deserving winners”. James also revealed that WPVR will be expanding some of the categories in the international space for next year’s Pinnacle Awards due to the tremendous response. Categories for Best Solo Artist and Best Group will be added to each of the P-Pop, J-Pop and K-Pop fields.
