Florence + The Machine on course to land first ever UK No.1 single

Although Florence Welch revealed her disappointment at being forced to cancel her upcoming slot at Benicassim, she will be delighted to know that her new single has entered the midweek chart at No.1.

'Spectrum (Say My Name)' debuted at the top spot this afternoon (July 11), putting Florence + The Machine on course for their first ever UK No.1 single.

Maroon 5's 'Payphone' has slipped down to No.2, Will.i.Am's latest cut 'This Is Love' is a non-mover at 3 and Chris Brown's new track 'Don't Wake Me Up' has dropped to No.4.

Adam Lambert's 'Never Close Our Eyes' made a respectable appearance at No.13 and the only other new entry in the UK Top 40 comes from The Vaccines with 'No Hope' which entered at No.30.

Taio Cruz's 'There She Goes', which features Pitbull, has slipped 9 places to No.22, Rita Ora's 'R.I.P' is at 26 and The Wanted's 'Chasing The Sun' has dropped by 1 position to No.29.
