Foals' 'What Went Down' leads midweek UK albums chart

Foals are in pole position to to land their first UK No.1 album on Friday (September 4).

The group's fourth effort 'What Went Down' is top of the midweek UK albums chart today (September 1).

The Official Charts Company have revealed that it is 5,000 copies ahead of The Weeknd's fellow new entry 'Beauty Behind The Madness'.

At No.3 on the midweek list is Jess Glynne's 'I Cry When I Laugh', which drops from No.1.

The rest of the top five is completed by two new entries - Ella Eyre's 'Feline' at No.4 and Motorhead's 'Bad Magic', which lands at No.5.

US singer Halsey is also a new entry at No.8 with 'Badlands', while Beach House are in at No.16 with their new effort 'Depression Cherry'.
