Gary Barlow on cracking America: 'I'm on the brink of success there'

Singer-songwriter Gary Barlow has opened up about his desire to crack the American market and reveals that he now feels as though it's something that is very much within his reach.

During an interview with The Sun newspaper, the superstar admitted that he hasn't actively been chasing international success, but it's something that has been slowly building for him in an organic way:

"I think I'm now on the brink of success in America. It's come to me, I haven't chased it. I haven't been lying in bed, thinking, 'I've got to crack America.' I did in the 90s, but I honestly haven't considered it since. It's fallen at my feet."

Barlow went onto add that after Take That decided to split up, he went to the U.S. and tried to make a name for himself although nothing really came of the effort: "I tried hard when I went solo after Take That split. 'Back For Good' was a hit here and I was signed to RCA Records. I did a nine-month radio tour, I gave it a real go. I had two albums but we never got close."
