George Michael axed Royal Albert Hall gig on doctor's orders

George Michael was forced to pull out of his scheduled gig at the Royal Albert Hall on Wednesday night after developing a "virual infection" and "high temperature" at the last minute.

The star was meant to perform to a London crowd, at what would have been his second show at the legendary venue on his Symphonica tour, on October 26, but had to sit it out on doctor's orders. A spokesperson for the singer apologised on his behalf and said:

"He is disappointed that he cannot perform tonight's concert, but he has been advised to rest. He received a tremendous reaction from the audience last night and is very sorry that he has had to postpone".

Michael tweeted a message to his fans on October 24 that explained he was "resting" his voice for the capital city's performances:

"In London, not speaking to anyone till tomorrow, resting my voice for the Albert Hall wanna be perfect for my fellow Londoners. :)"
