Innovative 'industrial pop' artist girl_irl is making waves in the glitch community of electronica. The Atlanta-bred, Brooklyn-based DJ and producer is following up with their features with Jackie Extreme and LVRA with a new sound. This love-song turned breakup track is made up of sampled sounds from car engines and zoom calls to form an untapped genre under their already experimental umbrella.

Fans of Arca, Tommy Genesis, and Shygirl can surely enjoy the lyricism and glitchy production found in the outer layer of girl_irl’s discography “bullseye” it’s the perfect welcoming track to summer, great for both beach days or club nights, but the song itself is just more than just a dance banger:

“The entire idea behind the ‘girl_irl’ project evolves around Cathartic Make Believe, imagining
alternate versions of yourself if certain things from your past turned out differently.

Originally starting off as a joke instrumental track turned love-song, ‘bullseye’ has shifted and changed its meaning up until the very last minute. The final version of the song was written and recorded in a few hours on a train ride back to New York then immediately sent off to mixing that same night. It felt good to write something that naturally became a release of so many emotions. ‘bullseye’ very quickly evolved into a song about acknowledging the toxicity of a relationship, giving your all to something addicting, and realizing you're better than it. This stomper of a track is an ode to freeing yourself to a relationship you may have lost yourself in and shooting down someone you once viewed as the sun in your sky! During the time of creation, I allowed myself to feel angry and promised myself it would be ready for release after closing that specific chapter of my life - I'm not angry anymore, I'm opening new pages.
