40,000 'Gleeks' audition for contest

Creator of Glee, Ryan Murphy, has signed on to be one of the executive producers of 'The Glee Project'.

This new show from NBC Universal's Oxygen saw around 40,000 hopeful contestants audition for a highly-coveted 7 week guest slot on the popular musical comedy starring Lea Michele and Matthew Morrison.

'The Glee Project' will air in the USA in June and the programme's executive producer, Michael Davies, said of its intentions:

"This is not a singing competition, a dance competition, an acting competition,"

"It's about, who has that magic spark to inspire the writing team of 'Glee'."
