Glee Cast Breaks Own Record With 200 Entries on Billboard Hot 100

Continuing their tradition of groundbreaking sales records, the Glee cast reaches another milestone this week by becoming the first and only act to place 200 entries on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. The Glee cast first graced the Hot 100 in 2009 with their version of Journey's classic "Don't Stop Believin'," which debuted at #4. In late 2010, on their way to making history, the Glee cast topped The Beatles' record of 71 entries on the Hot 100. The Glee cast accomplished another astounding feat in 2011, when their 113th entry beat Elvis Presley's record of 108 entries, officially making them the record-holder for most entries in Billboard's 54-year history.  In doing so, the music from Glee has also surpassed records held by James Brown (91 songs), Ray Charles (74 songs) and Aretha Franklin(73 songs).

Contributing to the Glee cast's milestone 200 entries is their recent version of Gotye's "Somebody That I Used To Know,"which sold 170,000 tracks in just two weeks.  To date Glee has sold an astounding 43 million songs and over 12 million albums worldwide.

Next week in the all-new "Dance with Somebody" episode of Glee, the New Directions honor music legend Whitney Houston. The glee club pays homage to a true icon when they cover Whitney Houston's greatest hits, including "How Will I Know," "I Wanna Dance With Somebody (Who Loves Me)," "Saving All My Love For You," "So Emotional," "It's Not Right But It's Okay," "I Have Nothing" and "My Love Is Your Love."

Since its debut, GLEE has become a bona fide cultural phenomenon, received prestigious honors including Golden Globe and Peabody Awards, covered music ranging from Adele to "West Side Story," sold over 43 million songs, 12 million albums, 2.5 million DVDs and single-handedly made glee clubs cool again. GLEE stars Lea Michele (Rachel), Cory Monteith (Finn), Amber Riley (Mercedes), Chris Colfer (Kurt), Kevin McHale (Artie), Matthew Morrison (Will Schuester), Jane Lynch (Sue Sylvester). Jenna Ushkowitz (Tina), Mark Salling (Puck), Dianna Agron (Quinn), Naya Rivera (Santana), Heather Morris(Brittany), Harry Shum, Jr. (Mike) and Darren Criss (Blaine) and remains a top 10 selling TV franchise. GLEE is produced by Ryan Murphy Television in association with 20th Century Fox Television. Ryan Murphy, Brad Falchuk and Ian Brennan are co-creators of the series. Murphy, Falchuk, Brennan andDante Di Loreto serve as executive producers. Become a fan of GLEE on Facebook at Follow the series on Twitter and join the conversation at #Glee.
