European Festival Awards final shortlists announced!

The votes have been counted and we can now reveal the finalists in this year’s European Festival Awards, as decided by Europe’s festival-goers. This year – the 6th edition - saw a new record set with over 1.2 million votes cast by fans for their favourite festivals and artists, an astonishing 100% increase on last year’s figures.

Music festivals in more than 35 different European countries were competing for public-voted accolades including the Best Major, Medium, Small, New and Indoor Festivals as well as the Line-Up Of The Year. The titles for artists include Headliner Of The Year, Best Newcomer and Anthem Of The Year.

But it’s not just about the public vote. Some of the more specialists categories are decided by panels of industry professionals, including Artists’ Favourite Festival, Green Operations Award and Promoter Of The year, and this panel also exercises a 25% say in the final outcome of the public-voted selection.

The winners will be announced on-stage at the European Festival Awards gala ceremony which returns to crown the opening night of Eurosonic Noorderslag in Groningen, The Netherlands on Wednesday 14th January 2015.

Steve Jenner, Co-Founder & Director comments: “With more festivals from more countries participating in these awards than previously, we were expecting an increase in fan engagement but not to this extent – we are blown away by the response! As well as being a positive indicator of confidence returning to the market, this shows that festivals are becoming more skilled in communicating with their customers, strengthening audience loyalty and leveraging it. It should make for a great party in Groningen this year.

A limited number of tickets to the event are still available at http://eu.festivalawards.com/tickets
