Musician Damon Albarn has confirmed details of a brand new Gorillaz studio album. 

The Blur icon told Australian television programme ABC 7.30 that he will be heading back to the studio this autumn to work on a new record with the virtual band:

"I'm starting recording in September for a new Gorillaz record. I've just been really, really busy so I haven't had a chance. I'd love to just get back in to that routine of being at home and coming to the studio five days a week."

Back in January, Jamie Hewlett posted new artwork featuring Gorillaz to Instagram and when quizzed by fans he told them, "yes, Gorillaz returns" so it seems that they are now ready to start creating a follow-up offering to 2011's 'The Fall'.
