The song is inspired by the death/suicide of a close family member and the trauma and feelings that lay in the aftermath of such an event. It is also about finding ones own way through the trials of life and struggle.

The instrumental was recorded between Sean's mini home studio as well as another small local studio in CPT, well the vocals were recorded at FiveSidedRecords in Gqeberha/PE. It was then mixed and mastered by Sean McCann in Cape Town and released/distributed by FiveSidedRecords.

Fear the Tides was formed via the online hardcore/metal community on FB during a search for a vocalist by founder member, Sean McCann from Cape Town.
