Green Day unveil documentary film 'Heart Like A Hand Grenade'

'Basket Case' icons Green Day are set to release a special documentary on October 15 called 'Heart Like a Hand Grenade', which was directed by John Roecker, and it will give fans a special insight into the creation of their 2004 album 'American Idiot'.

The band issued a statement on this exciting news, which reads: "More than 10 years after the release of American Idiot, 2015 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees Green Day present Heart Like a Hand Grenade. This time capsule rock doc takes us inside the songwriting and recording process of their Grammy Award-winning punk rock opera."

John Roecker added: "During this time, Metallica released their film Some Kind of Monster - a film that showed a band on the verge of artistic collapse and infighting. I told [frontman] Billie [Joe Armstrong] about the film and he thought because there was no drama going on with the band I did not want to continue with the film. I was thinking the opposite."

"This film does not contain high drama or fighting. It shows a band on top of their game creating incredible music. It is a film that inspires. It is also a very small film. All it took was a box of tapes and one camera."
