Gwen Stefani says creative process for new album has been gruelling

No Doubt sensation Gwen Stefani has revealed that she has been writing a lot of emotional and honest new material lately.

Speaking to People magazine about her new musical project, for which she has already written around 14 songs, the platinum-haired beauty explained that she always finds the creative process to be emotionally gruelling:

"It's like getting pregnant with 14 babies all at once. Every song that is added to the batch makes it different. Every single time I write a song, I think it's my single and it's very dramatic and everyone's like 'Okay, Gwen. Shut up. We know it's not the one, but I'm glad you're excited.'"

The rocker then went onto add that the theme of her new album is simply authenticity: "[It's] just truth. Just being clear and being true to myself. I just want to be fulfilled. It's really quite selfish."

Back at the beginning of September, Stefani admitted that she has been overflowing with inspiration recently: "I'm literally writing like I've never written, I think ever. Every time I go in the studio -- which I don't have a lot of time in my life -- so when I've gone in, every single time I have written a song. I have close to 10 songs, which doesn't sound like a lot, but it's over a very short amount of time. It's never happened."
