OFFICIAL PRESS RELEASE

NEWS PROVIDED BY
Help Musicians UK

Despite a uniquely challenging year, Help Musicians has seen resilience and resourcefulness in adapting to current times and we know that for many, the opportunity to create, develop and grow and diversity income streams during this remarkable year can be a vital aid in maintaining good mental health. For these reasons, we’ve opened three new routes to career support for music creators to further musical output, build business skills and explore ways to maintain wellbeing.

The three funding opportunities Help Musicians is opening today are:

The Transmission Fund
The fourth round of the Covid-19 adapted Do It Differently Fund
The fifth MOBO Help Musicians Fund

About

Transmission Fund
Help Musicians’ training and development opportunity, Transmission Fund, exists to support music creators to take advantage of short periods of upskilling. That might mean an online course to build new skills or develop the ones they have, attendance to a digital conference to learn more about the industry, an online songwriting retreat or perhaps a chance to learn new music marketing techniques. Transmission Fund offers grants of up to £1,500 to take knowledge and skills to the next level.

Do It Differently Fund
Being a musician takes the careful balancing of musical output, business skills and personal wellbeing, which is why the Do It Differently Fund offers a package of support across each of these areas. The Covid-adapted Do It Differently Fund provides grants of £3,000 to fulfil a music project (such as writing, recording and marketing a new LP) as well as 1-on-1 business guidance with some of the UK music industry’s leading experts, ensuring musicians feel confident in their business plans and able to progress. By working with our partners BAPAM and FAC, the package of support also champions entrepreneurial spirit and nurtures wellbeing.

The MOBO Help Musicians Fund
We have once again teamed up with MOBO Trust to open a fund dedicated to supporting artists making Hip Hop, Grime, R&B, Soul, music of African origin, Reggae, Jazz and Gospel. Ensuring music creators are supported across the breadth of their needs, the MOBO Help Musicians Fund offers grants of £3,000 towards musical output (such as writing, recording and marketing a release), plus 1-on-1 business guidance from industry experts to help musicians make the most of the current landscape, plus wellbeing support through BAPAM.
