Singer James Blunt was joking when he told Italian TV he will be playing the organ at the royal wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton, his spokesman said.

During a concert tour stop in Italy, Blunt was asked about the wedding to which he replied: “I’m actually playing. I’m not singing, I’m playing the church organ there.”

His spokesman added: “James has a keen sense of humour and this was a joke.”

Blunt achieved fame with his debut album “Back to Bedlam” in 2005 including his international hit single “You’re Beautiful.”

Before he became a singer, he was an army officer and served under NATO in the 1999 conflict in Kosovo.
