Janelle Monáe has confirmed a batch of UK dates due to take place later this month.

The US star, who released her second record 'The Electric Lady' last year, will play shows in Manchester, Birmingham and London in May.

The first gig will take place at the Manchester Academy 1 on May 7 before Monáe heads to Birmingham's Institute on May 8.

The jaunt will conclude with a show at London's Brixton Academy on May 9.

Tickets for the dates will go on sale from Friday (February 7).

Monáe meanwhile is up for the International Female Solo Artist prize at this year's BRIT Awards, which are taking place in London on February 19.
