Janelle Monáe will be honoured at ESSENCE's Black Women in Hollywood Awards.

The ceremony, which is hosted by ESSENCE magazine, will take place on February 23 at the Beverly Wilshire and Monáe is set to receive the coveted Breakthrough Award. Issa Rae, Aja Naomi King and Yara Shahidi will also receive awards. 

The magazine's editor-in-chief Vanessa K. De Luca issued a statement on the award winners and said:

"For the past decade, the ESSENCE Black Women in Hollywood Awards have paid homage to our modern image-makers — both in front of the camera and behind the scenes. This past year has been an exceptional one for diversity in film and television, and with the incredible contributions of Janelle, Issa, Aja and Yara, it is fitting that our 10th anniversary will honour the future of Hollywood and its continued steps on the path to inclusion."
