She attended the ceremony, which was held at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel in Los Angeles on Thursday (February 23), where she was presented with the Breakthrough Award by hitmaker Pharrell Williams. During her acceptance speech, the songstress talked about starring in the new movie 'Hidden Figures' and referenced its box office success. She said: "The world must continue to know that we are not your expectations. We have been the backbones of communities from the ghettos to Silicon Valley. We're not monolithic.
