Jason Derulo on recent chart success: 'I've been gone for a while so it means that much more'

Singer Jason Derulo has opened up about the success of his first release since fracturing his neck back in 2012.

His latest single, 'The Other Side', has stormed iTunes and has so far has made it to No.2, and he explained to Digital Spy that having such fantastic fan support after being out of the spotlight during his recovery means the world:

"I've been gone for a second so to come back and receive this love is crazy! I'm someone who watches the charts pretty heavily, so I know that  having a top five song is all about strategy and timing. In America they've now  added YouTube plays of the music video to the charts, which makes it even more  difficult. Everything has to line up at once."

When asked about the music video for the track, which sees him literally standing on his neck, the 'It Girl' heartthrob confessed it was important to show strength considering what he has been through over the past year:

"It was important to me. I feel like the injury happened to me for a reason. I  made sure that I came back with something different - I wanted to up everything  that I care about. Hopefully that shows in the music and visuals."
