Jason Derulo: 'I'll bring some magic to my new live show, music needs showmanship'

'It Girl' hitmaker Jason Derulo has vowed to up the ante on his brand new tour by including an 'element of magic' in his set.

During an interview with Digital Spy, the star explained that he has always been a fan of showmanship although he feels as though it's something that musicians tend to overlook nowadays:

"It's almost like the art of showmanship is dying. It's really important to me - I've always been that kid who was ready for the next show and the next surprise. I'm always trying to come up with new and exciting moves. I'm also going to be adding some magic to my live performances - I'm a big magic fan. You know, I have magical powers so it'd be a shame not to show them off."

Derulo added that he wants to "shock" his fans when they see him live, but he was careful not to give too much away: "I have a lot of really cool ideas - I think it will shock a lot of people."

He also recalled an anecdote about seeing rapper Kanye West on a plane recently, but joked that he couldn't ask him for a collaboration as he passed out during take-off: "I saw Kanye on a plane the other day. I was going to go up and talk to him but he slept for the entire flight. It was the weirdest thing. The flight was ten hours - he just went completely out within seconds!"
