Jason Derulo on finding love: 'Neck injury helped me see the light'

'The Other Side' singer Jason Derulo has revealed that while fracturing his neck was terrible, it also marked a turning point that led to him finding love with Jordin Sparks.

Speaking to Now magazine's Dan Wootton, the superstar explained that after the injury he started looking at things in a 'different light' and his recovery helped him realise that he was genuinely falling for the 'No Air' beauty:

"Yes, it definitely brought
me closer to her. Before my injury, I wasn't even looking for anything serious. I was just doing my thing. I wasn't on that page at all."

Derulo added: "I thought
she was a nice girl and I liked spending time with her, but
my head wasn't at that place. Then the injury helped me to
see the light. Without it, we wouldn't have happened."

He also recently told The Guardian newspaper that he's quite introverted and just steps into a more outgoing role where his music is concerned: "My mom said I was an introvert. I'd never thought of myself that way, but I suppose I do tend to be quiet, then become someone completely different on stage. For my first and second albums, I wasn't myself. I was just playing a role."
