Jay Sean says politics rules BRIT Awards

Jay Sean has branded the BRIT Awards as being out of date after not receiving any nominations last night, January 13.

The 'Down' singer has enjoyed immeasurable success recently as he became the first UK Urban artist to reach the top spot in the U.S charts, but despite his achievements was overlooked for this year's BRIT Awards.

Talking to Radio 1's Newsbeat, Sean explained:

"I've sold more records than everybody on the list."

"I don't need awards to show me how successful I am or to prove to me that I'm doing a good thing and that I'm succeeding."

"I never did music for awards. I did music because I love it and I do music because I love singing and I love entertaining."

Jay Sean's fourth studio album will be released next month and you can watch his video for '2012' here, on which he collaborated with female rapper Nicki Minaj:
