Jennifer Lopez says new song is about "getting back to your roots"

Jennifer Lopez says her upcoming new track is about paying tribute to your "roots".

The singer is due to unleash the song 'Same Girl' soon and she has been busy filming its video in her hometown area of The Bronx, New York.

Speaking to Ryan Seacrest, the US beauty said that the tune isn't acting as an official single, suggesting that it is more of a gift to her followers.

The message of the song, meanwhile, is about revising where you came from and honouring your heritage.

Lopez said: “This was just something I was doing for the fans. It’s not a first single or anything like that. But the song is about getting back to your roots and remembering where you’re from and I think we captured that in the video too."

The song is expected to feature on Lopez's next album, which could drop later this year.

It will follow up her last full effort 'Love?', which was released in 2011.
