Jennifer Lopez on new album: 'I missed my deadline, but it just wasn't ready'

'On The Floor' songstress JLo has confessed that her forthcoming new studio album was late when she handed it in because she worked on it until it was perfect.

Speaking to Jimmy Kimmel about her new record, Lopez explained that she has spent over a year working on it so wasn't willing to pass it on before it was exactly what she wanted it to be:

"It's my 10th album and I guess I just had that in my mind. Usually when I've done albums before, it's like two-to-four months max (maximum); this I've been working on over a year. Every time they were like, 'Are you ready?' I was like, 'No, not yet'."

She added that her manager, Benny Medina, was hounding her for the finished record because it was so overdue: "When you miss you deadlines, it doesn't go up when it's supposed to go up... Benny's my manager and partner for many years and he's like, 'Come on kiddo...!' I yell back if I have to."

While on Kimmel's chat show, she also gave a translation of her song 'I Luh Ya Papi' so that older people who aren't used to modern slang could understand it.
