Jennifer Lopez: "Female stars are taking over"

International songstress Jennifer Lopez is proud to see female stars "taking over" the music industry.

The chart-topping star has enjoyed a string of hits over the years including 'Jenny From The Block', 'On The Floor', 'I'm Glad' and 'Ain't It Funny'.

Lopez is proud that her fellow female counterparts are paving the way for artists in the famously tough entertainment business.

She explained: "Women have taken over the music industry – when you think of all the female artists who are out. Even going back 20 years, back to Cher, Gloria Estefan and that whole time with Mariah Carey and Céline Dion and then the next wave which was me and Britney and Beyoncé to what’s continued to now with Rihanna and Lady Gaga. With all these people there have been a few guys but we have really had it on lock for a little bit."

Aside from her music career, Lopez has also starred in several films and has branched into a range of fashion and beauty ventures.

The 43-year-old star - who has launched 19 fragrances since her first range Glow by J-Lo debuted in 2002 - insists she is hands on with all her projects.

Speaking to Stylist magazine she said: "I see myself as the creative chief officer of my life. Anything I get involved with, whether it’s business, music, movies or producing, it all comes from what’s important to me."
