Actress and music superstar Jennifer Lopez has been named as the lucky recipient of the 2,500th star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in Los Angeles.

The award-winning beauty will attend the official ceremony later this month on June 20 where her star will be unveiled to the public. She has been recognised for her lengthy career that spans across music, film and television.

Producer of the iconic Walk of Fame ceremonies, Ana Martinez, explained that JLo was the perfect choice for the honour:

"In 1994, Sophia Loren became the recipient of the 2,000th star on the Walk of Fame. This ceremony marks the 2,500th star on our famous Walk and Jennifer Lopez was the obvious choice! Fans from across the world will be thrilled to experience this special star ceremony."

Lopez, meanwhile, is still deciding whether or not to return to 'American Idol' for the upcoming new season.
