Jessie J: 'I want to get jobs because I deserve them'

'Flashlight' singer Jessie J has revealed that she wanted to audition for a voice role in 'Ice Age' because she didn't want to just be handed opportunities as a result of her fame.

Chatting to Live! with Kelly this week, she explained that it's important to her to get a job based on her skills rather than just her reputation:

"I did an hour's audition and tried to find a voice they liked. I didn't want to get it because of the music I've done. I want to get it because I deserve it."

As previously reported, Jessie J also opened up about deciding to leave The Voice in Australia and explained that she wants to focus all of her attention on making new music:

"It's really time consuming and if I'm being honest with you, I get to the point where I'm in the chair and I just wanna sing. I'm sitting there and I want to tell them, 'You have to do it better and I'm trying to coach you, but I just want to make it a duet.' So I know it's time, I had a little bit of a kind of slow down break and now I know I'm ready to write another album."
