The talented singer/songwriter Jessie J has won her first Brit Award.

The 22 year old from Essex was nominated in the prestigious Critics’ Choice category and it was announced this morning, December 15, that she was picked as the winner.

She has previously written for superstars of music such as Miley Cyrus and now Britney Spears. The ‘Do It Like A Dude’ singer is the fourth female in four years to win this impressive award.

On hearing the news, she excitedly tweeted:

“I WON!!! Omg omg omg omg omg”

“Arghhhhh!!! Omg!!! I'm in shock and I'm tears!!!”
