Jessie J set to release her new single "Not My Ex" on Friday

Jessie J is set to release her highly anticipated new single "Not My Ex" this Friday (October 6).

The single highlights past romance issues being carried forth into new relationships. It is the second release from the acclaimed singer-songwriter's upcoming album, "R.O.S.E.", which is the follow-up to 2014’s "Sweet Talker".

The title of Jessie J's new record is an acronym for Realisations, Obessions, Sex and Empowerment.

On her hiatus between releasing albums, Jessie J told Billboard last month:

"I was reassessing life: love, heartbreak, business decisions, had I achieved enough, was I happy where I am. In the two years that I did The Voice in Australia, I was diagnosed with some health issues that I’m not ready to talk about that I had to really face as a woman.

"I also lost my grandparents and didn’t have time to grieve. The hardest part about being an artist is that you have to open your wounds to heal other people’s and you don’t often get the time to heal your own."

The British star released her defiant lead single "Think About That" last month on September 15. She is currently gearing up for an intimate world tour.
