Justin Bieber has praised Selena Gomez on Instagram.

The singer, who used to date the 'Come & Get It' star, complimented the star's looks by posting a photo of her at a recent Vanity Fair bash.

Bieber wrote: "Most elegant princess in the world."

The post reportedly crashed Instagram for a short time as fans looked on in confusion at Bieber's apparent on-off relationship with Gomez.

The 20-year-old later posted an image of himself lying in bed along with the caption: "Good morning, god loves you."

Bieber meanwhile will face court on two separate cases this month.

He was charged in Miami earlier this year with substance and driving charges, whilst he is also alleged to have assaulted a limo driver in Toronto in late December.
