Canadian heartthrob Justin Bieber has revealed that he's glad social media exists because it gives him a platform through which he can challenge rumours and gossip surrounding his private life. 

The 'As Long As You Love Me' hitmaker took to his Twitter page over the weekend and told fans that he's tired of the press twisting his words and is at least grateful for the opportunity to share his personal views online directly from his official accounts:

"The media really loves to twist things. Glad we have social media so they can't twist me. I love people. Plain and simple. I love people."

Bieber, meanwhile, was recently added to the line-up for this year's upcoming Billboard Music Awards, which is due to take place on May 22 in Las Vegas. Other performers include Shawn Mendes, P!nk, and DNCE.
