Canadian hitmaker Justin Bieber has admitted that superstar Will Smith interviewed him before granting him permission to spend time with his son, Jaden.

Speaking to Ellen DeGeneres yesterday (May 23), the 18-year-old 'Boyfriend' singer explained that he was auditioned by the 'Men In Black' actor as a potential friend for his son and luckily passed the test:

"Well basically you know he just wants to make sure good people are around his family you know, he doesn't want just anybody.

"So basically he's like if you going to be around my kid, you have to make sure you do this and this and this."

When asked specifically about the terms laid down by Smith, Bieber added: "You know be respectful. You know like make sure if I have something the next day that we get the proper amount of sleep and stuff like that. Yeah, he's about his business."
